Updos

So I have a beach wedding coming up and I have been looking all over for a new and cute updo. My dress is a sweetheart strapless dress and I want to accent my shoulders, so what better solution than an updo. I also don't want to fuss with my hair all night so an updo is perfect and hassel free (if pinned in correctly :)

Check out Lauren Conrad's tutorial on a this perfect updo. Let me know what you think:)

Wedding Season!!!

Tis the season of weddings. Earlier this spring, I was in my cousin, Jenny's beautiful wedding. It was back home in IL and the color scheme got us all ready for springtime. Here are some pictures from my cousin's very special day. The whole color scheme was based off of the limonata!! How clever:)

I'm in one more wedding this coming fall and I can't wait. One of my best friends from college is getting married this August in Destin, FL. It's my first beach wedding too!! Wohoo!!

I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to wear these on the beach with my gorgeous J.Crew bridesmaids dress. Do you love?? They're pretty pricey which temps me to try a little DIY project. Hmmmm....

I you haven't check out whats new at BHLDN, I highly recommend it. They have decorations, favors, jewelry, shoes and of course dresses and gowns now. Enjoy!! You'll be in wedding heaven!!

I'm still here!!

Wow!! It's been so long since I last posted on my blog!! I've been super busy with work and extra curricular activities that I have neglected posting anything! It won't happen again. Work has been good-busy. We're finishing up all development for our spring'12 season. It's killer!

I also helped out with auditions for the Philadelphia 76ers Dance Team. It was a lot of fun seeing the vets as well as the new talent out there. Last night we got the good news that they want us (the alumni) to dance at the final auditions at Chickies!! We're so excited and will start practice next week. Hope to see you there July 13th! Talk to you later!!

Travel on the mind

So if you don't know this about me, I LOVE to travel!! It's such a huge part of my life and I never want to change that. My family was big on trips and vacations so I was fortunate to get to see a lot of new places at a young age. Thanks Mom & Dad! I find it so exciting being introduced to new cultures and lifestyles.

The latest place that I found and added to my desired travel list is in Negril, Jamacia. It's the Rockhouse Hotel. GQ listed this boutique hotel as a must stop destination. I have to agree because this place looks so breathtaking and natural. They have cliff-top cottages right over the water and dining on the cliffs. (I've already sent this link to a friend who is looking for a destination wedding so I hope she takes the bait;) The Rockhouse Hotel also has a foundation called the Rockhouse Foundation that helps out local schools and libraries which is fantastic. Check it out and I'll let you know when I book my trip one day:)

Happy Mother's Day

It's been a week since I've posted anything, but i wanted to make sure I took time to say Happy Mother's Day to my Mother and to all the mothers out there. I'm blessed to have such a great mother, grandmother and mother-in-law in my life.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MOM <3

Christina, Abuelita , Me, Mom & Erica

Sara, Katie & Linda (my Mother-in-law)

Sadly, I'm unable to be with any of them due to distance and the insane prices of airfare at the moment. I hope that they all know that Billy and I love them very much and that they are always in our hearts. We love you and wouldn't be the people we are without you!! Have a wonderful day and can't wait to see you soon.

Love, Jessica

Cool or Creepy?

As creative and artistic as these are, I can't determine if they're cool or creepy. What do you think? Would you wear them?

Favorite New Dress

This dress from Free People is one of my new favorite dresses! It has a great tribal feel to it along with offering flattering lines for any body type. You could play with so many pop colors since this dress is a neutral color. I would add a bright turquoise or burnt red necklace with this, some feather earrings and some fun flat sandals. FYI - these Jeffrey Campbell gladiator sandals below are TO DIE FOR but sold out:( I'll let you know when they are back in stock!!

For a lower price alternative, I would recommend the Sparkle & Fade Colorblock Bodycon Dress from Urban Outfitters. You get the same silhouette and similar neutral color.  Comes in three colors too!

Wonderful Weekend

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. The weather has been finally warm here so Thursday my co-workers and I went to Terrain at Styers for an amazing lunch/shopping trip. I recommend everyone check it out if you live in the Philly area. I would love to open up a place like this in Memphis and host bridal luncheons. The atmosphere is so chic, the food is excellent and the shopping is amazing. I picked up some fun items and gifts.
Terrain at Stylers

Friday I was off so I went to town on some shopping for the house. All I have to say is, "Thank you HomeGoods!!!" We also had friends over that night to watch the Flyers game. So much food!!!

Saturday I did a little more shopping and we watched the Memphis Grizzlies/San Antonio game. It was great to see the Grizzlies win their first home court playoff game!  (I danced for them for two season's so I always root them on when I can:)

Sunday was Easter Sunday so Billy and I went to church. The church was so crowded that we had to sit in the also crowded gymnasium with no air and had to listen to Frank Sinatra playing on the speaker. haha... We then got last minute tickets to the Sixers/Miami game so we went to cheer them on. We met our friends Dana & Bobby at the game and got to sit club box. Woop Woop. It was an amazing game and the Sixers WON!! It was awesome to be there in person like the good ole dancing days. My Sixers girls did amazing as usual:)

Although it was tough to be away from my family during the holiday, Billy and I had a great weekend. All you need is good company to have a great time, and I know I will have a lifetime of that:)

My first post:)

Hola,
This is my first post and I've prolonged this for so long. I've wanted to blog about fashion, dance, travel and so much more for the longest time but I never thought it would be good enough. I've finally decided to forget all my worries and just let it rip. I currently work at Urban Outfitters home office in the Men's Design area. I LOVE my job and the company. It sometimes amazing me that they pay me to work here. Here are some pictures of my office. There will be much more to come.

Jewels -we can bring dogs to work:)
(This is a co-workers dog - she actually got her first modeling gig for the bike accessories on Urbanoutfitters.com - coming soon)

So a little about me: I'm originally from Alhambra, IL. I moved to Memphis, TN for college to dance for the University of Memphis Pom Squad. I stayed in Memphis for 7 years and started my first job at Catherine's, a plus size retailer. I started as an Assistant Product Manager and quickly fell in love with design. We then got news that Catherines was relocating the company to it's World Headquarters in Bensalem, PA (just outside of Philly) to join it's sister companies. I decided that if there ever was an opportunity, this was the one to take. It was so hard to leave my family and friends but I knew in my heart that this was my calling in the next chapter of my life. My husband Billy, who was my boyfriend at the time, decided he would move up there with me once he found a job. It took about six months but Billy finally landed a great job at Campbell's (soup) in Camden, NJ. Billy also proposed during that transition time which was an amazing, life changing moment.

To occupy my time before Billy moved up here, I auditioned for the Sixers Dance Team and made it. I knew that joining the team would be the best way to keep myself occupied, make friends and continue to dance while I was alone. Billy finally moved up here and we got married October 3, 2009 back in Memphis, TN.
Planning a wedding in another state is a blog post (or two) in itself but is was so worth it. Since the marriage, Billy and I have bought our first home in New Jersey which we absolutely love, I started my new gig at Urban a little over a year ago, and I danced for one more season with the Sixers.  I'm also very excited because Billy and I are about to celebrate our two year anniversary in October. How time flies by.
Ok, that was actually a lot about me. Hope you stuck around. I can't wait to continue to share more about my life, my passions and things that just make me smile:)
